I’ve listed four incredible options for you, from an enormously popular card game to (arguably) the definitive PlayStation title. Enjoy!

Poker
Poker is one of the oldest card games and one of the most popular of recent years – having begun as a 19th-century American pastime, it’s since exploded across the world and now has millions of fans.
Poker offers strategy, the chance to win some cash, and is one of the few games you’re actively encouraged to cheat – bluffing makes you a good player, not a bad sport.

Dragons, magic, and a princess in distress, Link and his quest is one of the greatest contributions to the fantasy genre, full stop – that’s right, including all mediums you can think of, not just video games.
The ideal way to play The Legend of Zelda is via NES. However, if you don’t have one knocking about then you can either use an emulator site, such as RetroGames, or you could invest in a mini NES games console – you’ll get hundreds of games for your money.
Solitaire
Also known as patience, solitaire is a card game that’s been around in one form or another since 1788 – you can’t get much more classic than that.
Solitaire is a brilliant tool for exercising your brain – it demands that you use logic to determine the best way to manipulate the card layout and sort them into the fashion you need to be able to win the game.
If you have a Windows PC then you probably already have the game – it’s been added to devices by Microsoft since the early 1990s. However, if you don’t have it already, there are loads of great free sites you can play solitaire.
My advice with solitaire is that you begin with Klondike. This is because it’s the classic version of solitaire and is the easiest one to pick up for beginners. Once you’ve mastered that, you can out some of the other types – there’s over 200 to choose from.
Resident Evil 2
Possibly the definitive title of the PlayStation console, Resident Evil 2 is still one of the most genuinely terrifying games you’ll play – not bad for something dreamed up in the late 1990s.
If you like games with a storyline then you can’t go wrong with Resident Evil 2. There’s death, heartbreak, corruption, tension, and LOTS of zombies in a horror video game story that’s near unrivaled in its attention to detail.
You may still have both your PS1 and your (no doubt well-worn) copy of Resident Evil 2. But if you don’t then you can play the game online by visiting a site like EmulatorOnline. And if you’ve been put off by the film series, don’t be – the games are far FAR superior.
Poker, The Legend of Zelda, solitaire, and Resident Evil 2 are four sensational games that have all been around for quite some time.
And while I won’t say they’ve all matured like a fine wine, each and every one of them remains an incredible game that puts younger rivals to shame.
